K Strass -Yo-Yo Master

There's something hilarious and humanizing about people who can laugh at themselves. I love K Strass's ability to be funny at his own expense.

The universe of comedy that Mark Proksch is involved in is so great and so different than some "comedians" whose specialty is punching down and who are so insecure they can never laugh at themselves. It's one of the reasons right-wing comedy can never be funny.

If you are into dividing people into two categories there are people who can laugh at themselves and those who can’t.

I think being able to be really funny requires a certain honesty and fearlessness, including recognizing the tragedy of the human-condition and still saying, fuck it we might as well have some laughs.

Speaking of comedy, I just finished the book "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole. It's got some super funny dialogue and interestingly weird characters.

“A Confederacy of Dunces” was rejected by multiple publishers while Toole was living. It was published 11 years after his death thanks to his mother's efforts.

John Kennedy Toole committed suicide in 1961. He was 31 years old. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1981.
